About BUCC & The Trials
The BUCC Promotion Trials is an interactive cyber-arcade runner and tactical shooter designed to celebrate the dedication, organizational excellence, and competitive spirit of the BRAC University Computer Club (BUCC).
1. What is BRAC University Computer Club?
Founded in 2001, the BRAC University Computer Club (BUCC) stands as one of the premier co-curricular organizations within the School of Data and Sciences at BRAC University, Bangladesh. With a legacy spanning over two decades, BUCC fosters an inclusive ecosystem where aspiring computer scientists, software engineers, designers, and tech leaders cultivate practical competencies outside the traditional lecture hall.
BUCC regularly organizes national hackathons, competitive programming contests, cybersecurity workshops, game jams, and industrial tech talks, acting as a springboard for student leadership and technical mastery.
2. The Concept of Promotion Trials
Within BUCC, member growth is recognized through a structured leadership ladder. Every recruit begins their journey as a General Member, contributing across functional departments (Research & Development, Events, Communication & Marketing, and Creative). Through consistent dedication and project execution, members ascend the club hierarchy:
The bedrock of BUCC. Members hone foundational skills, dodge introductory obstacles, and build collaborative agility.
Task leaders who coordinate department projects, sprint planning, and event logistics across the club.
Equipped with specialized Blaster weapons to defend teams, clear blockers, and mentor incoming batches.
Strategic decision makers who wield Heavy Plasma Cannons against severe challenges and operational hurdles.
The presidential apex of BUCC leadership. Candidates face the 4 legendary GB Bosses to achieve the ultimate Hall of Fame rank.
3. Technical Craftsmanship & Engineering
Built completely from scratch without monolithic third-party gaming engines, BUCC Promotion Trials demonstrates high-performance web engineering:
- Pure HTML5 2D Canvas: Custom particle simulation engine, physics gravity loops, and double-jump collision detection running smoothly at 60 FPS.
- Web Audio Synthesizer: Dynamic real-time sound synthesis producing retro laser fires, energy shields, and coin chimes entirely via JavaScript code.
- Dynamic Responsive Scaling: Real-time viewport adaptation with desktop keyboard inputs, mouse reticle aiming, and mobile touch support.
- Decoupled Leaderboard Architecture: Asynchronous high score synchronization with automated local cache fallback when offline.
